To reduce your scope 3 emissions, you need to start working with your suppliers actual emissions - not estimating them - so you can attribute their reductions back to you, or switch to more emission efficient suppliers.
Step 1 is data, find out which suppliers are calculating emissions, how much they are, whether they’ve set targets to reduce, and how ambitious those are. Step 2 is monitoring this and holding them accountable, and including it in the procurement process. Step 3 is calculating how those targets contribute to your own scope 3 targets, and recalculating scope 3 based on actual emissions. Only then, do we recommend diving into more granular data like LCAs.
Automatically get and monitor your suppliers emissions
Use suppliers actual emissions to recalculate your own
Empower your suppliers to improve
Some of your suppliers haven’t yet calculated their emissions, and that means you need to push them to do so. To help prioritize this engagement, we’ve already automatically found out where suppliers don’t calculate, and we’ll soon be able to estimate the emissions per supplier, so you can focus engagement on the biggest emitters first.
We’re proponents of a very flexible approach to reading emissions data. Sometimes you need to use the parent organization’s disclosures, sometimes the specific site. And soon, the product-level emissions, in the form of e.g. LCAs. With Responsibly, you flexibly navigate these different layers of data, to dive deep where you need to and not overwhelm your suppliers.
