MAS Certified Green® and the green leaf logo are registered trademarks of Materials Analytical Services, LLC (MAS), created so consumers can readily identify interior construction products, furniture, and furnishings designed and manufactured to reduce chemical emissions to the indoor environment. Responding to concerns over health effects from exposures to volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions inside buildings, schools, and residences, regulators and industry groups developed standards to reduce the release of hazardous chemicals from construction products and furniture. The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association (BIFMA) and other organizations have built on these concerns to develop additional testing protocols and standardsThe MAS Certified Green® Program integrates its own rigorous product testing requirements with those of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method, the BIFMA furniture sustainability standards, and formaldehyde emission testing requirements of the California EPA with the conservative chemical emissions limits referenced by the US Green Building Council LEED and CHPS. There simply is not a more conservative, thorough, or transparent IAQ product-certification program available. The MAS Certified Green® Program is ISO 17065 third-party certification accredited and recognized by LEED, CDPH, BIFMA, CHPS, and GSA as meeting the laboratory testing standards of these organizations.
