RESILIENCE

Score and monitor the resilience of your suppliers

An event hits, who's affected? How exposed are your suppliers to climate resilience risks? Are their business continuity plans sufficient? Evaluate this and more in one due diligence platform.

RESILIENCE ASSESSMENT

Monitor and score every supplier on nine resilience parameters, weighted your way

Evaluate a supplier on every aspect of resilience, from whether the topic is inherently risky with the supplier, to the positive actions they're taking to manage the risk, to the incidents that have hit them before. Customize and tailor the assessment and scoring to your business priorities.

Resilience (9 parameters)

Assesses whether the supplier's digital operations are being disrupted, including ransomware, cyberattacks, ERP outages, network outages, and system outages. The destination for cyber-driven operational disruption per the framework's scope boundaries; preventive cyber controls live in the Cybersecurity package.

LOCATION MONITORING

Which supplier sites were hit by an event, and should you care?

Monitor your suppliers in real time across events breaking in news or specific disaster and alerts systems. More importantly, rigorously analyse every event to find the needle in the haystack you need to focus on: proximity to the event, relevance to the event based on operations and industry, severity of the event and relevance to your purchases, and much more.

SUPPLIER ADVERSE NEWS

Catch the disruptions that follow the company, not just the address

Some disruptions follow the company rather than a location: ransomware on its ERP, a strike across its plants, a new sanctions listing, a recall. Responsibly screens global news for every supplier you add, tags each story to the resilience parameter it affects, and groups follow-up coverage into one incident. You review it once, close it with one task, or engage supplier for more information or corrective actions directly from the platform.

Have you assessed the climate resilience physical risk to your own operations? If yes, what were the results and what's your business continuity plan for managing it?

Borealis has assessed physical climate risks to its operations through targeted studies and integrated risk management frameworks. According to the Group Annual Report 2025 File aa38154f, the company commissioned a site-level climate risk study that evaluated hazards such as extreme temperatures, drought, wildfire, and flooding across 17 production sites using scenarios ranging from RCP 2.6 to RCP 8.5 for the 2030, 2050, and 2070 timeframes.

Assessment results

While the assessment concluded that physical climate-related risks are not currently considered material to the Group's overall financial position, specific site-level vulnerabilities were identified:

  • Linz (Austria): Vulnerable to surface water and riverine flooding, as well as temperature extremes and drought by 2050/2070.
  • Burghausen (Germany): Identified as having risk related to surface water flooding.
  • Renasci (Belgium) & Kallo (Belgium): Vulnerable to coastal inundation/flooding.
  • Geleen (Netherlands) & Rockport (USA): Identified for potential water stress.
  • DYM (South Korea): At risk from tropical cyclones and fluvial flooding.

Business continuity & management plan

Borealis manages these risks through a centralized Resilience Standard, which integrates incident, emergency, and business continuity management:

  • Three-tier approach: The company utilizes dedicated Incident Management, Emergency Management, and Crisis Management Teams to handle events affecting people, assets, and business interests.
  • Mitigation strategies: For identified hazards, Borealis employs specific measures such as:
    • Infrastructure greening: To mitigate acute heat waves.
    • Design thresholds:Chronic risks like “Hot Days” are managed by elevating engineering design thresholds for assets.
    • Future planning:Borealis plans to conduct further “onsite deep dives” at selected production sites in the coming years to refine these resilience strategies Group Annual Report 2024.
  • Enterprise Risk Management (ERM): Climate risks are embedded into the broader ERM framework to ensure they are addressed alongside other strategic business risks.

BUSINESS CONTINUITY

Know which suppliers have a plan, before you need it

Events tell you who got hit. Continuity evidence tells you who will recover. Responsibly collects it from three places and asks the supplier only for what it can't find.

  • Certificates: Continuity, quality and safety certifications such as ISO 22301, matched to the right legal entity and checked for expiry.
  • AI answers: Ask "do you have a flood plan for your Thai plants?" and get an answer from the supplier's own reports, with sources.
  • Supplier engagement: Before or after an event, ask the affected suppliers one question: are you affected, and when can you deliver? Track every answer in one list.

INHERENT RISK

Know where disruption is likely, before it happens

Every supplier inherits risk from where it operates and what it makes. Responsibly links each supplier's countries and industry to established risk indices for every resilience parameter, such as the World Bank Logistics Performance Index for logistics or the WorldRiskIndex for natural disasters. Use it to decide which suppliers need a continuity plan, or a second source, before the next event.
