The challenge

Swisspearl faced increasing pressure from multiple regulatory frameworks and customer requirements, including CDP, Norwegian Transparency Act, UK Modern Slavery Act, and Swiss regulations on conflict minerals and child labor.

  • Meeting regulatory requirements—especially the Norwegian Transparency Act—was complex and resource-intensive.
  • Existing in-house processes relied heavily on manual work and Excel-based workflows, creating inefficiencies for both internal teams and suppliers.
  • A single individual was responsible for supplier due diligence, without sufficient resources to manage the growing scope of work.
  • Supplier engagement required extensive manual outreach, including sending large volumes of emails to collect product-level data such as EPDs.
  • It was difficult to scale due diligence beyond tier 1 suppliers and manage language barriers across global suppliers.
  • Sustainability requirements were highly complex, with dozens of topics (e.g. 48 human rights topics alone) needing to be assessed and monitored.

The Objective

  • Establish a structured and scalable approach to document, assess, and mitigate risks across the supplier network.
  • Embed supplier due diligence directly into procurement processes, ensuring compliance is part of every purchasing decision.
  • Ensure compliance with key regulations and international frameworks, including OECD guidelines.
  • Improve risk and incident management, including tracking corruption, sanctions, and human rights risks.
  • Replace manual workflows with a cost-efficient and scalable supplier relationship management solution.
  • Build a future-proof due diligence framework capable of adapting to evolving regulatory requirements.
