bioC GmbH was founded in 2010 as an initiative of organic certification bodies, associations from the organic food industry and service providers. In 2014, IFOAM - Organics International joined bioC GmbH as a shareholder in order to promote the worldwide spread of the initiative and the availability of verified current certification information.\n\nAs part of the collaboration, bioC is building a global directory that will allow certification bodies to publish and users to access certification information in real time.\nbioC ensures that only such certification information is made available that has been confirmed as authentic by certification bodies. This procedure prevents fraud using forged certificates.\nWith bioC, certification bodies and users save time and money through greater efficiency in verifying certificates and the certification status of suppliers and their products. Particular attention is paid to data protection and security.\nOn the internet platform www.bioC.infoinformation on currently more than 100,000 eco-certified companies is made available through the eco-certification bodies. This includes information on both legal and private law standards. Currently, 44 certification bodies and label holders from different countries participate in the directory. The bioC initiative is also welcomed by control authorities. The responsible British control authority DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) has selected www.bioC.info as the central directory for the publication of the certificates of British organic companies. In Austria, the cooperation between easy-cert, bioQS and bioC provides the directory for organic companies.\n\nWith the addition of other countries and certification bodies, the directory is continuously being expanded with the aim of making reliable certification information and the efficient option of verifying the status of suppliers available worldwide
